A lifelong Resident of the Coachella Valley
My name is Roman Rios, and I've lived in the Coachella Valley for 30+ years, so I know the area, I know the people, and I'm very familiar with its higher education offerings. I've been tutoring off and on since 2014, tutoring children, adults, individuals trying to get into the Military, and even students trying to pass their apprenticeship exams for trade school.
Why Seek Tutoring?
There are number of reasons a person might seek tutoring! Perhaps in your studies you are working with an instructor who is hard to understand, speeds through the material, and because nobody is asking any questions, the instructor assumes that everybody is learning and moves on to the next topic. But it could very well be the case that you are not learning, and eventually a situation will manifest where you fall behind. In most Mathematics courses this is very easy to do because it is common for new topics to build upon previous ones. Therefore, if you are not understanding older material it is highly recommended that you seek help sooner rather than later to prevent this situation from occurring. Even if the help isn't from a tutor, you should have the wisdom and courage to seek additional help from somebody. At the end of the day, it is your education.
A Dedication to Continued Learning
The phrase "knowledge is power" can be demonstrated by this quote: "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime." This quote pretty much sums up my reason for becoming a math tutor. I believe that as individuals, we make better decisions when we seek and obtain knowledge through learning. As a community, we are stronger and more resilient when we collectively seek out knowledge to better ourselves and those around us. Finally (and this is important to understand), a free society can only be maintained when the majority of its individuals consciously choose a path of knowledge seeking and self-improvement. In contrast, an ignorant society full of individuals who only care about themselves and do not care about knowledge and truth will invariably stagnate and decay.
